I would like Tarot cards to become more fully integrated into our culture in the same manner in which they are a part of European culture. If Tarot is to be sold outside of what we call "the Tarot community" then we should be upfront about the use of these cards for games. I have found that most people become interested in the cards when they also find out about the games. The prevailing business model of Tarot is only confining these cards to a kind of ghetto.

Tarot cards are mostly marketed to a narrow new age spiritual demo. As a result, in English speaking countries, Tarot has become ghetto-ized. Tarot cards are capable of appealing to a more broader audience if people knew they are also used for games.

Well, perhaps I can just close this whole thing with this: This video is a WICCAN video. We WICCANS use tarot cards as TOOLS OF DIVINATION, not games. Am I saying games are silly? No. Am I saying your theory on them originally being used for games is untrue? No. Am I saying that Wiccans originated Tarot? No. But I am saying that regardless of whether they were used as games or not, this particular video catagorizes them as tools...

I have no problems with divination or with Wicca. However the lack of respect for history is something to which I object. Like all too many Tarot videos on Youtube, I think you're giving to much weight to so-called "theories" which have been debunked by both A.E. Waite and Michael Dummett.

Lol your not understanding where I'm coming from. This video is about using Tarot as a tool, not learning the history on Tarot. That is like going to English class, and then learning the history on how the first book was invented. Even though I see what you mean, history is important, at the same time, what is the point arguing where they came from when people are here to see how to use them in Divination. Now if someone wanted to know its history, that's when I'd start lecturing, lol. BB.

Yes. Although Dummett is primarily known for his work in philosophy especially as a scholar of Frege, he's done quite a bit of substantial work on the history of Tarot.
