The Nabta Playa complex is the earliest known Archeological site in Egypt (c.11000 years old) and only recently has our knowledge of Astrophysics become complex enough to understand that it is a map of the heavens over a 26000 year long period, the length of the procession of the equinoxes to complete the cycle, incidentally the same length as the Mayan calendar, that is about to start over again in December 2012.
